How do I pay for the equipment rental?

We accept major credit cards (Visa, MasterCard, American Express and Discover), online transactions with PayPal or Venmo, Zelle wire from any US bank account, and cash upon arrival with no extra fees.

Where do I pick up and drop off the equipment?

A Handicap Travelers DR representative delivers the equipment right to your hotel, residence, condo, apartment or villa upon arrival. For hotel rentals, simply leave the equipment at the bell desk when you're done. For villas, condos and apartments, leave it at the location where you picked it up — usually with the administration/reception. Call our office at 1-809-552-1501 to arrange the most convenient delivery.

Where do I recharge the equipment's batteries at the hotel?

The battery on your personal transport vehicle needs to be charged each day — plug the power cord into a standard outlet at the end of the day and let it charge overnight inside your room. Some equipment has a built-in charger; others come with a separate off-board charger. Our reps will walk you through it on delivery, or call our office if you have any questions.

We deliver scooters and equipment to hotels, resorts, residences and condos across the country from two offices. Our East Coast office covers Punta Cana, Bávaro, Cap Cana, Bayahibe, Juan Dolio and Santo Domingo. Our North Coast office covers Cofresí, Puerto Plata, Sosúa, Cabarete and Samaná.

Do you need a prescription for oxygen?

Accepted Answer

Yes. Oxygen concentrator rentals require a valid prescription from your doctor. You can email it to us before delivery.

How far in advance should I book?

We recommend booking as early as possible — you can reserve up to one year in advance. Peak-season dates fill up quickly.

What should tourists know when they arrive at an airport in the Dominican Republic?

The DR's tourist airports are typically 10 to 40 minutes from the major resort areas. On arrival, you walk out of the plane using the wheeled stairs and follow airport staff into the terminal. Every tourist must buy a tourist card (US$10) before entering customs and US$20 when leaving the country — many tour operators include this in your package, in which case you'll receive the card on the flight.
